MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION
Upon invitation to join The League, the candidate fills out an application for membership which is then signed by a sponsor and an endorser, both Active members in good standing. The application, along with samples of professional work qualifying the candidate for membership in Art, Letters, or Music, are the credentials which are then presented to the Branch Membership Chair along with membership fees. The Chair forwards the application packet to the National Committee for consideration.
Among many National Honorary Members are: Helen Thomas, Gloria Vanderbilt, Dale Rogers Evans, Erma Bombeck, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton, Ruth Bell Graham, Eudora Welty, Kathryn Crosby, Pamela Hill and Julie Harris.

4. Music which is performed by community or children's theater: In this case the performers are not paid, and most of the work is volunteer. The composer is not paid. However, in a regularly scheduled performance a ticket price or a fee is charged to defray expenses for production. This would not include parody lyrics which are written to existing tunes; that is the province of the Letters category.
5. Music which is performed at a benefit or fundraiser: In this case, too, the composition is donated to entertain or to attract attention to the benefit, and the performers donate their time. The benefit is sponsored by a recognized organization, and the money is raised to support the needy organization.

Friends are recognized in an issue of the Honolulu Branch's newsletter and will receive the newsletter monthly. Friends pay the reduced "Members" price for luncheon meetings, conferences and retreats, and can participate in the Art Boutiques. The Friend's annual contribution of $25.00 to the organization, plus a one-time application fee of $5.00, will endorse and support the Branch's programs. We welcome all of our new Friends!
NLAPW is a non-profit organization and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law. Opportunities for designating additional gifts to the Branch's Kaha Ki'i Fund for the Biennial Art Exhibition, the Lorin Tarr Gill Writing Competition Fund, and the Biennial Writers' Conference Fund are also available.
