PEN WOMEN RETREAT
What happens when Pen Women get a chance to team up and play?
On August 10, 2002, four artists, three writers and a composer
spent a day at a beautiful retreat in Kailua. Results: wet
paint on good clothes, the beginning of a song, great food,
stories, dirt, a rhythm band, scrubbing paint off our feet,
and a lovely labyrinth of stones and leaves.
"This retreat was an incredible opportunity to learn
about creative collaboration, and understand more about the
way artists approach the creative process in a marvelously
rich, "in the moment" way
We all had the chance
to get to know each other in much greater depth than we do
through the meetings, both as people, and as artists."

"
Playing with all those talented women was a stretch
for me and a precious learning experience - not only in exchanging
and interacting in other media, but in having fun. It was
truly an amazing day, one I shall never forget - we accomplished
so much, touching on all the arts, and I am still smiling
at our finale
